about

From the Earth's iron core & the magnetic fields flowing from pole-to-pole, to the mineral deposits beneath our feet, we're
living in an invisible environment of magnetic flux. Ancient people across the world have described & mapped these flows over centuries:
great magical & spiritual significance is given to great stones, mountains, caves & the magnetic network that may link them, sometimes described as ley lines.

Human beings, animals & even plants also are electromagnetic entities, our nervous systems are a complex matrix of organic electrical wiring.
This electromagnetic interconnectivity between the planet & the entities that inhabit it is thought by some to operate like the read & write heads of a recording device such as a tape machine. Perhaps humans sometimes 'imprint' the landscape around them - in times of great trauma or other extreme events - & maybe that same landscape 'replays' that imprint to others who are sensitive enough to receive it. What secrets lay hidden within The Ferric Landscape ?

Many of the sounds in this album have been recovered from magnetic media: cassette & reel-to-reel tape, VHS etc.
The tracks have then been built-up by passing these these sounds along with recordings of analogue synthesizers & FX pedals back to
tape. The resulting saturation & distortion has the effect of masking some audible frequencies whilst emphasising others, as well as
creating totally new harmonics & resonances not fully present in the original sound. The aim of this process is to somewhat mimic our natural, electromagnetic landscape -largely unnoticed in the midst of the digital purity of our modern world.
